Dear Cataraqui Woods ES families:
It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that I inform you and our school community that Mrs. Lisa Murphy, Intermediate teacher and friend to many at our school has passed away. This is a tremendous loss for our community.
Today and over the coming weeks, you may be concerned about your child’s response to this upsetting news. These reactions and feelings may be part of the grieving process. Many students will wish to talk with their parents/guardians.
Some students in our school, particularly current and former students of Mrs. Murphy, will find this news very difficult to understand and accept. Other students are also likely to be upset, perhaps because it reminds them of another sad event in their own life. Maltby Health Services (https://maltbycentre.ca/) can provide supports if you feel that your child requires their services.
As a school, and staff, we have extended our most sincere condolences to the family. We will communicate details of the funeral and visitation once those details are confirmed.
