Pride Celebration on Wednesday, June 17 - Wear Rainbows!

Happy Pride Month!

Our school-wide Pride event will take place next Wednesday, June 17th from 2:00-3:15pm. There will be a short assembly, followed by our Pride parade, and then a variety of outdoor activities. Please send your child/children with a hat, sunscreen, and a reusable cup (for lemonade). Parents are welcome to attend the event and lend a hand with festivities.

We are still looking for the following items for the event:

  • yard games (e.g. large connect 4, corn hole, etc.)
  • Rainbow looms (we have the bands and clips)
  • 2 picnic blankets
  • Small prizes

Please reach out to me if you have any of these items to give or lend out graymasonv@limestone.on.ca

If your student has any jerseys from Track & Field, please return them to the school asap. Thanks!

- COMMUNITY HAPPENINGS -

Mayor

This unique initiative gives one local student the chance to spend the day with Mayor Bryan Paterson, learning firsthand about municipal government, civic leadership, and community issues. The selected student will tour City Hall, attend meetings and events, sit in the Mayor’s chair in Council Chambers, and enjoy a personalized day based on their interests related to local government.

Students are invited to submit a short video application answering questions such as:

  • Why they want to be Mayor for a Day
  • What their first action as Mayor would be
  • What they would like to learn about the City of Kingston
  • Their favourite thing about living in Kingston

  Key details:

  • Open to current Grade 5 students (ages 10–11)
  • Application deadline: Friday, June 19 at 4 p.m.
  • One winner will be contacted on Wednesday, June 24
  • Applications must be submitted in video format

The City is committed to making the program accessible to all interested students. Families who require assistance with filming or submitting their application can contact Mayor@CityofKingston.ca to arrange support at City Hall.

Additional details for the program can be found here: Mayor for a Day 2026 |

For questions or alternate formats, families may also call Customer Experience at 613-546-0000.
